WendzelNNTPd-1.4.0 released Today I invested a
lot of time to
finish the
development of
WendzelNNTPd-1.3.0.
It is a special
release that makes
WendzelNNTPd-2.0.0
including the
planned MySQL
backend unimportant
since it stores the
message bodies of
postings in files
instead of the

This means that the SQLite3 backend is only used for storing and managing meta information about postings, users and newsgroups. This is a job even Sqlite3 can do very fine. Because of that I see no need to support MySQL or another DB (btw. the implementation of a database abstraction layer would be heavily time consuming!).
Other improvements are that this release runs on Windows again (I uploaded a setup.exe file on SourceForge like I did it in the past!).
