Hardened Linux
Hardened Linux was a hardened and minimalized distribution developed by the Open Source Community. A huge part of
the distribution is based on Slackware (tm) Linux. The project was created by Steffen who was also the project leader. The
project ended on June, 26. 2008.
--- old info site: ---
It is designed to run on firewalls, routers, as IDS host, VPN gateway and authentication system.
It comes with a grsecurity hardened kernel, userspace hardening, hardened (and stack smashing protected) packages,
a hardened file system and hardened configuration files.
The main goal of the distribution is to provide a very secure system everybody can use. Normaly lots of people aren't
able to do real good hardening on their linux hosts because they possibly don't have the skills or the time (for patching
kernels and packages, ...) to do that. They could simply use Hardened Linux for this job.
